Stress: When you place stress on different words it can communicate a different meaning.
Rate: People agree more with a fast speaker than with a slow speaker and find the faster speaker more intelligent and objective. Note, however, that comprehension levels begin to fall dramatically once the rate exceeds twice the normal rate.

In the US it is considered appropriated to glance alternatively at the other person's face, then away, then again at the face, and so on.
Facial movements may communicate many emotions, such as:
Duration
We typically give eye contact for 1-3 sec. When eye contact falls short of this length of time, people may think the person is uninterested, shy, or preoccupied. When eye contact exceed this length of time, people might perceive the person as showing unusually high interest or even hostility.
Quality
Quality is how wide or how narrow your eyes get during an interaction. This communicates interest level and such emotions as surprise, fear, and disgust.
